Parable for Preachers 5

"hey mate!"
"hello my brother!"
"stop and shakey hand!"

The stallholders all trade on a jolly sense of bonhomie. But with only one end in view - the main chance. The words may persuade you to stop and buy but they are meaningless and superficial. No friendship, no community.

Rightly are people suspicious of those with persuasive tongues. Maybe they just want to get something from me. Maybe they are fake, just looking for the main chance.

Friendly or persuasive words that aren't backed up with authentic character, real community, friendship might not all be false. Some might be true. But a wise person measures persuasive words against the yardstick of a persuasive life
