Leadership Lessons: Its All About The Glory of God

I am going to try to write 100 short posts on biblical spiritual leadership and see how far I get.

What is the single most important thing to say in #1? It has to be this: Christian leadership is all about achieving glory, fame and everlasting renown for God.

The Bible teaches that this is God's goal for our lives:

  • He predestined us for adoption to sonship for the praise of his glorious grace (Eph 1:5-6)
  • We are "for the praise of his glory" (Eph 1:12 +14)

The goal of God for each person's life (and indeed the whole reason he made Creation) is that He, in all the glory of his grace, is seen and rejoiced in and praised and made much of, then that is the purpose of a church. And if that is the purpose of a church, then that is also the heart of biblical leadership.

Leaders do all kinds of things. But the reason for doing anything is to achieve for the Glorious One glory in the world and in the lives of as many people as possible.
